Inception

On 2nd October 2019, a march was organised in Sector D3/4 of Vasant Kunj, against the use of Single use plastic (SUP), as well as to create awareness about segregating Plastic Waste.

Details of project

Since January 2020, Slim Homes & Garbage Free India, have been engaging with Residents of Condominiums & Societies across Gurugram, including South City 1, The Retreat and more recently, The Palms, to segregate their plastic waste which is then routed to KK Plastics in Begumpur Khatola, where it used for road construction. From October onwards, parts of South City 2 have also joined in.

 

Our Impact

The plastic waste has been used to create the following stretches of roads:

•  National Highway- Laid 2 kms of 6 lanes in Delhi-Meerut Expressway.

• 1 km in Sohna Road.

• 2 km in Delhi Cantt.

• In all their recent projects, KK Plastics has been using the plastic waste that we have been sending to their plant. As of September 2020, we have sent over 10,500kgs of mixed plastic waste (HVP, LVP, MLP) to KK Plastics.

• A march was organized in Sector D3/4 of Vasant Kunj, against the use of Single use plastic (SUP)

• A total of **166,099** tons of plastic have been diverted from 2020 to 2024 in collaboration with Garbage Fee india .

• Henceforward, GFI will be partnering with Ecogram to manage the remaining 5-7% of the current non recyclable plastic that we have been storing at the segregation site. Ecogram has a baling machine now that is being set up. We will send them the LVP for baling. The baled plastic will be sent to Rajasthan cement mills to be used in the cement kiln.
